Буква «Ы»

Letter «Ы»

Это самая сложная буква для иностранцев: они её просто не могут произнести. Нет ни одного русского слова, которое бы начиналось с буквы «Ы», впрочем, как и с «Ь» и «Ъ». Попробуйте произнести мЫшка [myshka] (little mouse) и мИшка[mIshka](Teddy bear). «Ы» всегда стоит после твёрдых согласных, а «И» после мягких.

The letter «Ы» is the most difficult to pronounce and it NEVER stands in the beginning of the word like  «Ь» and «Ъ».
Try to pronounce: мЫшка [myshka] (little mouse) vs мИшка[mIshka](Teddy bear). «Ы» always goes after HARD consonants, while И after the SOFT ones.

Запомните правила:

1)ЖИ, ШИ пиши с буквой «И»: жИзнь (life), шИшка (cone), жИрный (fat) шИрокий (wide) etc.
2) ЦЫ is written in the following words (remember mnemonics): цЫган на цЫпочках цЫкнул на цЫплёнка «цЫц» ( a gypsy man on his toes says to the chicken “hush”)

Remember the following rules:

1)you should write  ЖИ, ШИ with «И»: жИзнь (life), шИшка (cone), жИрный (fat) шИрокий (wide) etc.
2) ЦЫ is written in the following words (remember mnemonics): цЫган на цЫпочках цЫкнул на цЫплёнка «цЫц» ( a gypsy man on his toes says to the chicken “hush”)

«Ы» - это относительно новая буква, которая не пришла в русский алфавит из греческого. Она также не соотносилась с определённым числом, как, например, А =1, Б=2 …и т.д.
До XIV века  «Ы» не имела собственного знака и на письме обозначалась как «Ь» (ерь)/ «Ъ» (ер) + «I» или «И».

«Ы» is a new letter which doesn’t come from the Greek Alphabet. It also doesn’t correspond to any number like А =1, Б=2 …etc.
Up to the 14th century the letter «Ы» didn’t have its own sign and was written as «Ь» (ерь)/ «Ъ» (ер) + «I»  or «И»
