Ural is the natural boundary between Europe and Asia, a mountain range that extends from north to south for thousands kilometers.

Красота Уральских гор, богатство Урала всегда привлекали сюда смелых и отважных людей. Освоение Урала начали жители Новгорода ещё в конце XI века. А в 1583 году русский казачий атаман Ермак прошёл через Уральский хребет в Сибирь, после чего Россия стала «прирастать Сибирью».

The beauty of the Urals, the natural resources and wealth attracted those who were brave and courageous. Novgorod people started exploring this area in the 11th century. In 1538 the Russian cossak Yermak crossed the Urals to Siberia, that led to the Russian “conquest of Siberia”.

Горнопромышленное дело здесь основали Демидовы. Самый знаменитый камень Урала –малахит, которым отделаны покои Зимнего дворца и Михайловского замка. На Урале в 1830 году были найдены изумруды, и здесь находится единственное в Европе предприятие по добычи изумрудов - «Изумрудные копи Урала».

Mining industry in this region was established by the Demidov family. The most famous Ural’s mineral is malachite which was used to decorate the Hermitage and the Mikhailovsky Palace. Emeralds were found in the Urals in 1830, and the unique European emerald enterprise called “The Ural Emerald Mines” is also located here.

В начале XIX века на Урале возникло златоустовское оружейное искусство - изготовление клинков из очень прочной златоустовской стали. Широко известно также уникальное каслинское чугунное литьё.

The first Russian bulat steel blades, sabres and swords were made in Zlatoust at the beginning of the 19th century. The region is world known for the unique Kaslinskoye cast as well.

There are a lot of wonderful fairy tales and bylinas based on the Urals folklore such as “The Mistress of Copper Mountain”, “Silver Hoof” and “The Tale of the Stone Flower”.

На Урале был открыт самый большой в России пещерный город, состоящий из 43 (сорока трёх) пещер, а в южноуральской степи был обнаружен Аркаим – поселение эпохи бронзы, которое считается обсерваторией древних ариев.
